sunday chat

Here are some discussion points:

Bands in Therapy
So, this new metallica movie is the impetus, but apparently bands paying lots of money to therapists is not a new thing. Maybe this changes the landscape of "Behind the Music"?

Graphic Novels Get Literary Respect
I have seen pieces of graphic novels that are very compelling. In some ways they require more effort to read. They require more effort to write, certainly. I enjoyed the film American Splendor, but what I'm really interested in finding is the graphic adaptation of Paul Auster's City of Glass. I think it's being reprinted soon, as the first one ('94) is out of print.

Paul Auster, one of my favorite writers, wrote a poem/song about the presidents. Here are the lyrics.

Michael Chabon, another good writer, has a very interesting website. He is definitely connected to the whole graphic novel thing.

I finished the book about bobdylan and Joan Biaz. I am very interested now in this character of Richard Farina. I will try and get a hold of his novel and recordings at some point.

I am now reading Garden State by Rick Moody.
