Fables

Another item read on the graphic novel/comic lit day for the YA literature was Bill Willingham's Fables. The concept is that all manner of traditional Fairy Tale characters (Snow White, Big Bad Wolf, Jack-of-beanstalk-fame, etc) are now living in some kind of magical New York apartment building. Volume 1 sets them up with a murder mystery scenario. I would have hated this in prose form but it was at least diverting in the comic book setup. It introduced some characters I don't know much of, including Bluebeard.
