Reading like a kid

In advance of a summer YA class, I read a few titles already:

Hard Love
by Ellen Wittlinger

A boy gets into zines, starts stalking a fellow zine writer and explores his feelings about his divorced parents and confused sexuality.

Rats Saw God
by Rob Thomas

A boy underachieves at school and overcompenstates in the arena of foolishness in an attempt to sabotage his astronaut father's attempt to create a clone son.

Mortal Engines

by Philip Reeve

It's the future and a bunch of cities are rolling around on wheels trying to eat one another. A boy is pushed off London by his former hero and spends time trying to get back and prevent a future holocaust/nuclear type situation.

When My Name Was Keoko
by Linda Sue Park

It's World War II in occupied Korea. Everyone's name is changed to Japanese and one family struggles to stay together while all rebelling against the Japanese in different ways.

The Chocolate War
by Robert Cormier

It's a prep school, and life is awful between the bully teachers and bully students.

I had a neat surprise with this half.com purchase:
