everyone's evolving

There was a period of time in which I was really into the detail-obsessed songs of Hefner. Like there was this one song about about a girl who smokes cigarettes in the narrator's bed. I really liked that song, though it drove various people in my life at that time crazy. After Hefner, Darren from that band started a band called the French, who had a great song called (and about) the Wu Tang Clan. Now Darren is solo and has two new things coming out this summer. There are outtakes from each online, for you to download.

Here's a hyperbole filled article about the White Stripes

Article about Sleater Kinney and Dave Fridmann

no more valedictorians A New Yorker article about lawsuits and smart kids' parents. Good thing I wasn't too close to number 1.

Another NewYorker article..did you know that technology has changed our interaction with music? What a novel concept for an article.

By the way, the new back page thing with multiple cartoon caption contests going on is terrible. Too cluttered, not sufficiently clever. And there have been a few good back pages in recent months, such as the Satriapi and Crumb ones. It's all a moneymaking ploy to get people to click onto the website, I bet.
