The band with collective ADD

Last night we saw the Fiery Furnaces at the Bowery Ballroom, along with White Magic and The Heartless Bastards.

Taking the stage after midnight, the Furnaces drove through a conglomerate of Blueberry Boat and Gallowsbird's Bark, their two albums. Songs started and transitioned to others and back again but the momentum continued throughout. Last time I saw this band, Eleanor had a guitar; this time she didn't. Still her recall of the rhyming dictionary lyrics deserve praise. This is a band that needs to be seen now.

White Magic: "They're good but not too rocking"...they were dirge-y at times. But I like the singer's voice and they wore masks! I apprectiated that touch.

The Heartless Bastards: I don't think they have anything out. Something is supposedly coming out on Fat Possum. I like the power trio setup. The girl had a good voice, and they were enjoyable.

So it was something of a girl power night, with three female-fronted bands. Highly enjoyable.
