return of Elephant 6

I enjoyed the Elephant 6 scene with bands like Neutral Milk Hotel, Apples in Stereo, Olivia Tremor Control, Beulah, Elf Power, et al.

Last night we saw a reunited Olivia Tremor Control at the Bowery Ballroom with Tall Dwarfs and A Hawk and A Hacksaw. It was a pretty good evening, with all bands joining the masses on the floor at some point during their sets.

A Hawk and A Hacksaw is the drummer from Neutral Milk Hotel, singing and playing accordion, and percussion with spare fingers, feet and head, accompanied by a violinist.

I really enjoyed Tall Dwarfs. I thought the songs were really good even if their singing and playing really were terrible.

Olivia Tremor Control started with their song that I like the best, The Opera House. They are fun with lots of members and instruments switching although at some points the "experimentation" got a bit tedious. Jeff Mangum did show up and sing one song during the main set. We left before the encore, so I don't know if he came back or not. My legs were tired.
