Photo from Whistling in the Dark at Flickr.

On Friday night, we saw Robyn Hitchcock at the Hiro Ballroom. The backing band included Scott McCaughey, Peter Buck and the temporary R.E.M. drummer. The performance was very good, as is the new RH album. I've enjoyed every RH or Soft Boys show I've seen, and it was great to see him in "band" mode as opposed to solo request mode, as he was the last time we saw him at Southpaw. A good selection of career spanning RH stuff, with maybe a bit more Egyptians stuff than I'd seen recently. Morris Windsor joined in on some songs. Scott McCaughey sang his funny/sad state of life song at the encore.

Here's a little article about RH.
