The title of Andrew Beaujon's book came from t-shirts sold at Christian Rock festivals. A quick google image search reveals a variety of logos, colors, and sellers:
Synopsis: Spin writer attends Christian rock shows and conferences, interviews some people and googles other information.
Referencing itself as a "mass market" book, this easily digestable book charts a reporter's investigation of the Christian Rock scene. The research methods are pretty loose, but this is interesting in a Spin article kind of way. Which is not a knock; despite the overall crapiness of Spin, when I most recently saw it, there would usually be an interesting article or two somewhere in the back.
There's a pretty good discussion of the origin of christian rock; I remember seeing a Larry Norman record at home. If you'd seen the album cover, you'd find this interesting. (I think that's the one I'm remembering--although it was vinyl not cd, so it could be different). Also interesting discussion of worship music vs. christian rock.
Beaujon seems a litle bit obsessed with Pedro the Lion as the Owl Eyes equivalent of the Christian Rock scene, the drunk sitting in the corner dispersing wisdom. The author's failure to interview Sufjan Stevens in documented a bit too much, both in the book and in online followup discussions. Anyway, this was pretty light and enjoyable, and interesting for a quick read.
Here's the author's blog
The book has an official site
Here's an excerpt
This site has other catchy Christian slogans (supposedly) caught on actual church signage.
