It seems like CBGBs is going to close. I don't really care. They've ruined it themselves by charging too much money relative to the crappiness of the bands that play there. And I get the impression that it is not a good deal for bands to play there, because no one good plays there unless they got conned into playing benefit shows or its CMJ and there aren't enough venues.
As if the Decemberists weren't generally nerdy enough, they appear on the official star wars web page because they have a toy Chewbacca on stage or something. They are coming back here in October, playing Webster Hall...if I were to go, a major reason would be Sons and Daughters who I would really like to see.
The Pixies most likely ruin their legacy when they make a new album...bam thwok. (which I liked ok, but don't probably need an album at that level.)
Here is a review of Dinosaur Jr. From the picture, I would say that J Mascis isn't looking so photogenic these days.
Here is an article about Son Volt. Apparently the Son Volt that is touring now is basically Jay Farrar and a bunch of new guys. Some reunion.
Apparently Harvard is trying to get about $3,000 from an employee who claimed she was descriminated against in applying for library jobs. The lawsuit seemed kind of funny, but Harvard won. I'm not impressed with this $3,000 thing--don't they have enough money?
