mmm, some Yo La Tengo please

Tonight we saw the early benefit show put on by Yo La Tengo at and for Tonic.

Camden Joy once compared Yo La Tengo to chinese food. Ira, Georgia and James hit the spot tonight. Aided with cello, they played a set that was lullaby-esque, except for the part when Ira tore it up. A lot of piano songs tonight. Seemed like a lot of Summer Sun vibe happening, but a good number of covers. Vince Guaraldi (the Charlie Brown jazz), Bert Jansch and a bunch more. James looks funny when he sings. Georgia still seems somewhat nervous. Ira knows how old he is.

Yo La Tengo is the most endearing band of all time, and a fantastic live band.
Buy their best of, out on Matador.
