Reading pile

I've been working on Haruki Murakami's Kafka on the Shore. It's been pretty quick for a hefty book. This book reads kind of like a movie, maybe something by Wim Wenders. Mr. Murakami has a nice website.

I got the new issue of The Big Takeover while in Seattle. Wilco is on the cover. This is the best music magazine. I think it comes out 4 times each year, and I always take a long time to go over all the features, interviews and reviews.

There is a memoir-ish piece by Jonathan Lethem in the new issue of the New Yorker. Part of it deals with how you can listen to something to the point of never wanting to hear it again, or of building up your fandom of certain artists to the point where you feel embarassed by their subpar work. JL has a book of essays out in March.

Picked up a free issue of Arthur while in Seattle. It came with the free white magic split cd I mentioned a while ago. Arthur is pretty good for a free magazine.

There are a couple of books that I abandoned that I need to go back to. I won't mention them because I would rather not insult the authors (one living, one dead.)

Right now I am going to start reading The Bears' Famous Invasion of Sicily by Dino Buzzatti. I picked it up because of the introduction and reader's companion written by Lemony Snicket and included in the new paperback edition.
