audio, literate

Last night I saw the Hives and the Rogers Sisters at Webster Hall. The Rogers Sisters opened; for me, they are an ideal opening band. A punk B-52s (didn't know the b-52s are still playing and recording!) is the easiest description. The Hives were fun, although not quite as fun as when I saw them a few years back. They played a lot of songs from Tyrannosaurus Hives, and I'm not sure that this is for the best. Webster Hall, by the way, was a mess to get out of after the show because of the dance club nonsense. Seems like a real fire hazard, and tough to retrieve your stuff from coat check.

Today I finished reading Coraline by Neil Gaiman. It was pretty good for a dark children's novel, but not as satisfying as the Snicket books. The reason I picked up the book at the Book Fair was because of the Snicket "recommendation" on the back cover. I will check out Gaiman's other kid's books, though.
